When studying for the geometry regents exam, the main topics to focus on are:

  • Parallel lines and transversals
  • Triangles, isoscleles, exterior angles
  • Right triangles & Pythagorean Theorem
  • Similarity & congruency
  • Writing 2 column proofs
  • Quadrilaterals and parallelograms
  • Polygons and central angles
  • Equation of a line
  • Equation of a circle
  • Transformations
  • Area, volume, and cross-sections
  • Density and ratios

Old regents exams are available at the NYSED website . When studying, either by yourself or with a geometry tutor, remember that memorizing formulas is not the complete process. With our students, we practice lots of problems and review the theorems that are at their foundation.
